Eastern Samar State University (ESSU) Guiuan Campus prepares for the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) Level One Accreditation through a Mock Evaluation. Two undergraduate Programs and One Graduate Program were subject for evaluation and each involved department braces the on-going assessment processes and compliance of requirements to gain a favorable result from the accreditors.

The programs that will undergo Level One AACCUP Accreditation are Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT), Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA), and Master of Arts in Education (MAEd) Major in Education Management and Major in Kindergarten. The aforementioned programs were tasked to submit all necessary documents for the accreditation in the 10 areas of assessment such as (1) Vision, Mission, Goals and Objectives, (2) Faculty, (3) Curriculum and instruction, (4) Support to students, (5) Research, (6) Extension and Community Involvement, (7) Library, (8) Physical Plants and Facilities, (9) Laboratories, and (10) Administration.

In an interview with the Campus Quill, Mrs. Chona A. Dado, Head of Quality Assurance and Accreditation, she emphasized the importance of the undertaking for ESSU since the Mock Evaluation’s purpose was to educate its various counterparts on the evaluation and the process on submitting the necessary documents. “Para an mga ig-coucounterpart mahibaro kun paano hira mag-uupload ngadto han ira evaluators ngan kun sakali meada aruon nga iba nga documents maaram hira kun aanhon pag-upload”, Mrs. Dado stated.

Furthermore, Mrs. Dado also stressed how hard it is for the administration and the individuals involved since the submission of the requirements and documents to the accrediting body is done online.  She also mentioned some of the difficulties that the teachers are facing as they prepare for the AACCUP Accreditation which were related to internet connectivity and uploading their documents to be assessed by AACCUP. Despite this, Mrs. Dado gave emphasis that she is confident that ESSU Guiuan will pass Level One Accreditation and stated,”…mga 95% siguro kay siyempre, it paningkamot hiton kada program head ngan mga faculty nakikit’an naton asya na confident kita nga mapasar it tulo nga program.”

Lastly, Mrs. Dado asserted that the program heads together with the faculty are almost done accomplishing the needed documents and as a matter of fact, according to her, they are already prepared for the upcoming accreditation.
